We took pictures of everyone that we could, but there were so many more that participated! Thank you to Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. Bryan for taking pictures for us at the Elementary!

The Elementary Robotics teams attended the Region 7 Robotics Competition this week. During the competition, there are several challenges to conquer. Round 1, the students are challenged to build and maneuver their robots through and obstacle course. Round 2, the students are given 30 minutes to build a robot from scratch to accomplish a certain challenge. This challenge was for the robot to shoot a ball at the bullseye. Round 3, was to submit an engineering notebook.
We do not yet know our total placing, but the students worked hard and enjoyed the challenges they faced. Their creativity and skill was outstanding.
Way to go ROBOTICS!!

Dear Gary ISD Families,
We want to make you aware of a concerning trend currently circulating on social media, especially TikTok. This new “challenge” encourages students to insert foreign objects—such as pencil lead, paperclips, or pushpins—into the openings of their Chromebooks.
While social media trends may sometimes appear harmless, this particular behavior poses serious safety risks, including the potential for electrical shock or fire. Additionally, inserting objects into a Chromebook can cause significant damage to the device, leading to costly repairs and disruptions to your child’s learning.
We are asking for your support in addressing this issue. Please talk with your student about the dangers of participating in these types of online challenges and the importance of using school technology responsibly. Key points to reinforce include:
Make safe and responsible choices online and avoid harmful trends.
School-issued devices are for educational use only.
Tampering with devices can cause safety hazards and permanent damage.
Damaging school equipment is a violation of the student code of conduct and may result in disciplinary action, including potential involvement of law enforcement.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our students safe and ensuring that technology remains a helpful and reliable part of their education. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your student’s principal.
Sincerely,
Mark Baisden - Director of Technology
