Seniors, we may be on break but this week marks the first annual Free College Application Week for all public Texas colleges and universities! If you have not submitted your application for schools such as Stephen F Austin University, Texas A&M University, or others, seniors and graduates are encouraged to do so this week and take advantage of the application waiver for any student that applies via ApplyTexas!
We have been notified that ApplyTexas may be a little slow-going this week due to the amount of students participating in this opportunity, but we encourage any student to push through and keep at it to complete their information!

Gary HS will offer the multiple choice ACT exam on Wednesday, October 22nd. This college placement exam is open to all students, 10th-12th who are in, or have completed, Algebra II. For any student that is interested in college, this is a strong first step to prepare for that journey! The cost is $30, and students have until Friday, 10/10 to notify Mr. Davis they would like to participate!

Our latest Habit Heroes are Kasen, Lane and Benton! Kasen was proactive and helped clean a messy area so others wouldn't get hurt. Lane was thinking win-win by finding solutions to help clean an area with an older student, and Benton has consistently put first things first by completing his classwork before playing and has been the classroom leader in assignments for the last two weeks!
8th grade parents, our 8th graders have been invited to participate in the Panola College Preview Day on Monday, October 20th, where they will visit the programs that Panola College has to offer! Permission forms have been sent home with students today, and we need them back by Friday, October 10th. If your student loses theirs, or was not present to receive one, extra forms are in the front office!
Yesterday, Gary FFA members were hard at work sorting through orders for our fundraiser pickup. We cannot thank these students enough for the work they put in yesterday to make pickup run smoothly. We are over joyed and so thankful for the support of the community. Thank you so much to everyone who supported this year's Fresh Country Fundraiser. We can't wait for next year!
This year, Mrs. Coligan's culinary classes are using the skills they've learned to create specialty drinks for our teachers (not to sound too biased but they taste really good)!

We'd like to celebrate our latest habit heroes, Beaux and Clara! Beaux was thinking win-win by helping friends so they could participate in our Pink Out celebration last week and Clara focused on her goal of being a great leader by making sure a precious lost item was returned to their owner!

At their recent East Texas Historical Association event, our very own Mrs. Coligan was given the Joe Atkins Public School Educator Award! This is an annual award that ETHA gives to educators who demonstrate excellence in instruction and mentorship. Congratulations, Mrs. Coligan!

We just wanted to give a huge thank you to all of our students and community for the support they gave to Ethan and his family for the Change for Ethan drive. Our students were able to raise $5,752.99 to help Ethan's family with his cancer treatments!

Our students participating in the GAP program have all been working hard on their courses! One of our first GAP completers for the year, Thomas Pugh, also went above and beyond and earned his certification in General Management!
We had so many students today rock out their Pink Out looks! We hope to see everyone at 4:30 for the Pink Out volleyball game!
