Congratulations to two of our seniors, Abbie Cummings and Alyssa Thompson, for being scholarship recipients from the Panola Archery Club! Abbie received the Frank Miller scholarship and Alyssa received the Johnathan Holland scholarship!

Raising livestock isn’t a “simple” or “easy” task. Students commit to the time and effort that raising a quality animal requires and they do what they can to be “successful”. That word means so many things in the livestock world!
Connally and Colston Cranford just finished up their year of showing, attending three of the four major livestock shows (Fort Worth, San Antonio and Houston) this spring and being competitive! To get to the level these boys compete, it takes practice and perseverance! They attend jackpot shows, help other exhibitors with their projects (they even taught Ms. Shadix how to show a lamb!!) and they never let a chance pass by to improve and grow!
Connally and Colston are special livestock exhibitors because they BREED AND RAISE their own show lambs, with their parents! They assist in the business of researching quality breeding lambs and bringing those genetics to Gary, Texas! This is something very few students have the opportunity to do and we are excited to watch them grow!
Congrats to Connally and Colston Cranford on an amazing year!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Braylon Seals for exhibiting his Dark Cross Barrow at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo!
Braylon wasn’t able to secure a sale place, but he did an OUTSTANDING job against hundreds of other exhibitors from across the state!
Major livestock shows are no easy task! The amount of work leading up to and preparing for these shows rivals nothing else! Texas has more opportunities for our students than any other state through major livestock shows and students qualify for scholarships based on participation, not placings!
Gary FFA has grown tremendously over the last few years and our students are benefiting from all of the new experiences in so many ways!

🐓Houston Livestock Show Broiler Show Results🐓
Brodey Seals & Brannan Stevens traveled to Houston to compete against 233 other “pullet” exhibitors from across the state of Texas!
Broiler exhibitors begin with 75 (SEVENTY-FIVE) chicks, all hatched on the same day and all picked up from College Station on that hatch-day! They have these birds for 6-weeks and in that time frame their number one goal is to make them eat and drink AS MUCH as they possibly can! We are talking, 24 hour care and management of these birds! It is a family affair because these students are also extremely involved in other things! They are “stirred” and made to get up and eat constantly (every hour, even at night!!).
These students left at 9pm on Wednesday 3/6, sat in line all night feeding and watering the birds, got checked in at roughly 7am and pre-judged this morning. From there they were “ranked” and started the “sift” process. They finished showing at 3:30pm!!
Brodey ended up not making the final cur for the 100 pens that made the sale, but did a great job!
Brannan placed 35th out of the 233 pens of pullets and MADE THE SALE!!! He will sell in the LIVE AUCTION on Saturday at 11am!
YOU CAN WATCH this sale and our other exhibitors showing in Houston at this link!
https://www.rodeohouston.com/livestream/
Look for “Auctions & Sales” to watch Brannan!
Check out the link on Saturday (3/9) to watch Caitlynn Ayers exhibit her Limousin Heifer and next Thursday (3/14) to watch Braylon Seals with his Dark Cross Market Barrow!

The Library Crew is ready for the book fair! They worked so hard today to get it set up!!

Just a reminder that tickets for Elementary Mother/Son 'A Night with my Knight' are still available!

CONGRATULATIONS to Monse Chavez on her 9th place finish at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo with her Market Goat out of over 100 in her weight class!
Houston is the largest major livestock show in Texas and the competition is the toughest in the world! Students from any 4-H or FFA in the state can compete at a major livestock show, making the event comparable to a state sports competition.
Monse also competed in Fort Worth with her goat and was first in class and Champion Intermediate Showman!
As Gary 4-H and Gary FFA grow, students are taking advantage of livestock shows at higher levels that will qualify them for scholarships of OVER $20,000!
Way to go Monse!!
