Gary FFA Treasurer, Caitlynn Ayers entered and completed the process to become a Longview District Officer Candidate. There are twenty-three school in the Longview District and Caitlynn had to be top seven to “make the team.”
After the Exam over FFA Facts, dates and more, an interview with a panel of Ag Teachers, and giving a 3 minute speech in front of 130 FFA Members and guests, they make their decision. While she did not make the team, BUT SHE MADE HISTORY just by stepping into this process!!
We are extremely proud of Caitlynn for her hard work and dedication!
Mr. Harvey, Mrs. Shadix and 13 other FFA Members were there to cheer her on and see the amazing process that Caitlynn went through! This will inspire other members to pursue higher FFA offices and participate more activities!

Good Luck to our Gary FFA Chapter Treasurer, Caitlynn Ayers as she begins the process in hopes of becoming a District FFA Officer!
Gary FFA has “chapter officers” that lead our members, host FFA Meetings and plan our FFA activities throughout the year. There are 23 schools in our Longview FFA District and only SEVEN students in the entire district are selected to serve on the District Officer Team each year.
To be selected, Caitlynn will take an exam over FFA facts and dates, parliamentary procedure, and agricultural facts, participate in an interview process where Ag Teachers from around the area will ask her many questions and she will be judged based on her interview presence, then at the District FFA Convention on 1/12 she will present a 4 minute speech to over 100 other FFA Members for a popular vote.
The three scores from this process will be added together and the top seven students from the 23 schools will serve on the District Officer team for the 23-24 school year. Responsibilities of a District Officer include: attending district, area and state meetings, hosting district convention, participating in area conventions and so much more! Students in these positions lead THOUSANDS of students throughout the year of service.
Caitlynn is the FIRST District Officer Candidate in Gary FFA’s history and just completing the process is an achievement! We will know the results of the process on 1/12!
GOOD LUCK CAITLYNN AYERS!
